I used this code scanner and it works as advertised. It sure has saved me time and money. I recommend this product to anyone that wants to learn about how car electronics relating to the engine really works. And Amazon has a heck of a savings on this scanner that can't be beat.

I am so happy with this Actron CP9145 Scanner! I used it to properly diagnose and repair my son-in-law's Ford Focus the first day I tried it. It was fast and easy!!!!!

Actron CP9145 Scanner Easy to use.
This product is very easy to use. Very satisfied with this product. The only negative thing about this product so far is the cord it comes with is way too short needs to be longer. Not something you have to pay extra for as an option.

Actron CP9145 I like it a lot.
I've done quite a bit of work from complete engine rebuilds, transmissions, rear axle assemblies, and the dreaded tinkering with the electronics. These parts are usually safely out of sight until something won't work and you happily can not find the sensor or the coupler its supposed to be linked to. Tilting an engine to locate and O2 sensor is not a great way to spend a day. There is no way around this stuff as its here and when something does not work it is just plain time consuming. I use this thing and I did buy the OBDI cable for it too. I have the opportunity to be challenged by some older GM stuff. To the point. I've used this thing, I've dropped this thing, and I've gotten some good answers from this thing.I like this unit and am glad I bought it. If you intend to use more than once in a great while for some mystery that lights up your indicator by all means buy one. For those that tinker under the hood you already know changing one thing causes a change in lots more and this unit will help you track down the ripple effect of problems.

Actron CP9145 REVIEW
Actron CP9145 Excellent!!
Excellent device, diagnosed my vehicle precisely, saved me the charge of diagnostics by dealer, went in told them what was wrong and bought the part and all was well.
Actron CP9145 Quick and Easy.
Well packaged, in a vinyl zipper bag which tucks the manual and CD safely in a compartment, the unit itself is held in place with a velcro strap. It also comes with an extender interface cable to allow you to place the scanner on the passenger seat.
I had a check engine light on and isolated the problem (rear O2 sensor) within minutes. Next up I need to replace it, check again and clear the code. Hopefully this will be as easy as it's been up to now.
Two features I'd like to see are a contrast control for the LCD screen and a backlight for low-light use. I was checking my car after work and it was dark out. The dome light in my car worked, but with LCD screens a backlight would make better sense.

I purchased this to avoid the cost of check engine light diagnosis for my Lexus IS. My friends at the NAPA recommended an Actron scanner but didn't carry a model with both pre- and post-1996 code reading capabilities. I purchased the CP9145 so I could diagnose my tuned-port retrofitted 69 Camaro should the need arise. The accessory cords are about fifty dollars each which seems a little pricey so if you plan to work on a variety of pre-1996 computer equipped vehicles I would recommend buying the scanner kit, which includes all the accesory cables, it is a better deal. I have not taken the time to explore all the options available on the reader but I find my experience so far to be positive. This device does not satisfy the needs of more complex diagnostic tasks that require voltage and resistance measures for specific sensors but has proven more than adequate, with a little help from a automotive parts professional, to tackle my problems.

Easy to operate works better than I expected. The bad speed sensor in my Dodge Durango was located and replaced. My speedometer,ABS and my trip computer now work perfectly again and I saved alot of money. Instead of the dealer's $800 charge, My cost was about $230 (including the cost of the AutoScanner) and a couple of hours to do it myself.I also have used it on two other vehicles in which it again worked flawlessly! A much needed tool for today's vehicles.

This is the greatest product ever. I bought it for my husband for christmas and has already paid for itself twice over. Had problems with two vehicles that had engine lights that kept coming on, as you know a garage will charge at least 75.00 just to hook you car up to their tester. well my husband plugged in the autoscanner and it instantly showed the code and we solved the problems in both vehicles for almost nothing and cleared the engine light code so they could be inspected in new york state. Would recommend this product to anyone who has some knowledge of automobiles, but even if you dont it saves you the cost of the diagnosis,easy to plug in to your car or truck and gives you a code thats easy to look up and see what the problem is. GREAT PRODUCT PAYS FOR ITSELF OVER AND OVER EASY TO USE

The only caveat is that you will need to do some research once you get the code. The scanner will tell you very quickly and easily what the car computer says, but that does not tell you why, or always what the code means. All in all, this is a great investment for a beginning to intermediate backyard mechanic.
